Spin-polarized currents in superconducting films - A.

We investigate the applicability of spin-polarization measurements using Andreev reflection in a point- contact geometry in heavily doped dilute magnetic semiconductors, such as Ga,Mn As. Although we observe conventional Andreev reflection in nonmagnetic Ga,Be As epilayers, our measurements indicate that in fer. If the ferromagnet is highly spin polarized—in the half-metal limit—the magnetoanisotropic Andreev reflection depends universally on the spin-orbit fields only. Our results show that Andreev reflection spectroscopy can be used for sensitive probing of interfacial spin-orbit fields in a FS junction. Received 27 February 2015.

The hole spin accumulation and spin-polarized transport in ferromagnetic semiconductor (FS) / d-wave superconductor (SC)/FS tunnel junctions with {110} interfaces are studied by using four-component Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations, in which the Andreev reflection and four-subband model for the FS are taken into account. It is found that due to the interplay of the d-wave SC and FS, the. Andreev reflection is widely considered the most reliable method for measuring the spin-polarization of half metals. This process occurs when a current passes between a superconductor and a normal metal at a point contact.

Probing spin polarization with Andreev reflection: A theoreti..|INIS.

The basic idea of Andreev spectroscopy is to measure the Andreev reflection of spin polarized conduction electrons on a superconductor surface [30-32]. When current is injected into the superconductor the charge must be converted to spin singlet Cooper pairs composed from two electrons with opposite spins. We study theoretically the differential conductance at a junction between a periodically driven spin orbit coupled system with a tunable band gap and a superconductor. The dynamics of a spin orbit coupled system, when driven with frequency much larger than the band-width, can be described by an effective static Hamiltonian that is known to have a rich topological phase diagram. Spiral: Andreev bound states in superconductor/ferromagnet point.

Andreev reflection ( AR ), named after the Russian physicist Alexander F. Andreev, is a type of particle scattering which occurs at interfaces between a superconductor (S) and a normal state material (N). It is a charge-transfer process by which normal current in N is converted to supercurrent in S.

One of the challenges facing condensed matter physics nowadays is to understand the electronic structure of high temperature superconductors. This dissertation compiles our contribution to the experimental information concerning this subject. Tunneling conductance spectroscopy a technique capable of probing the electronic density of states in hybrid structures was used to study the current and.

Magnetoanisotropic Andreev Reflection in Ferromagnet-Superconductor.

Recently, theory has predicted a Majorana zero mode (MZM) to induce spin selective Andreev reflection (SSAR), a novel magnetic property which can be used to detect the MZM. Here, spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy or spectroscopy has been applied to probe SSAR of MZMs in a topological superconductor of the Bi[subscript 2]Tep[subscript.

By examining spectra taken from L a 1.15 S r 1.85 M n 2 O 7 − Pb junctions, together with a compilation of literature data on highly spin polarized systems, we suggest that the existence of the Andreev bound state would resolve a number of long standing controversies in the literature of Andreev reflection, as well as defining a route to.

A superconducting point contact is used to determine the spin polarization at the Fermi energy of several metals. Because the process of supercurrent conversion at a superconductor-metal interface (Andreev reflection) is limited by the minority spin population near the Fermi surface, the differential conductance of the point contact can reveal.

We show that spin-polarized electron transmission across semiconductor/superconductor (Sm/S) hybrid structures depends sensitively on the degree of spin polarization as well as the strengths of potential and spin-flip scattering at the interface.

It is found that the crossed Andreev reflection (CAR) and local Andreev reflection (LAR) depend strongly on the spin-polarized F, the magnetization direction, and the Ising superconducting phase. For the same magnetization directions of the two F leads, the equal-spin CAR could take place due to the spin-flip mechanism induced by the Ising spin. We theoretically study scattering process and superconducting triplet correlations in a graphene junction comprised of ferromagnet-RSO-superconductor in which RSO stands for a region with Rashba spin orbit interaction. Our results reveal spin-polarized subgap transport through the system due to an anomalous equal-spin Andreev reflection in addition to conventional back scatterings. We. In this paper, we study the effect of spin injection via Andreev reflection on MR in the FM/SC/FM junction. We consider the junction consisting of SC with thickness L sandwiched by semi-infinite ferromagnets FM1 and FM2. The boundary between FM1/SC and that between SC/FM2 are at z =− L /2 and L /2, respectively.

The control and manipulation of spins in graphene may lead to a number of novel applications and to the design of new devices, such as spin-based memories 217 or spin logic chips. 218 Graphene is uniquely suitable for such applications, since it does not show sizeable spin–orbit coupling, 74 and is almost free of nuclear magnetic moments. 219.

Zero bias anomalies have been observed in point contact Andreev reflection spectroscopy using conventional superconductors, and they cannot be suppressed by a highly spin-polarized current. By systematically varying the size of the point contact, the anomalies are found to be evolved from conductance dips outside the superconducting gap. Spin-polarized multiple Andreev reflections in spin-split superconductors Abstract We study the transport properties of a voltage-biased contact between two spin-split superconductors separated by an insulating barrier of arbitrary transparency.
